What Are Wax Melts?
Wax melts are small, scented pieces of wax that you warm gently in a wax burner to release fragrance into your home. Unlike candles, they don't have a wick — the heat from a tea light or electric burner does all the work. This makes them a wonderfully safe and long-lasting way to fragrance your space.
Choosing Your Burner
The type of burner you use makes a real difference. A ceramic or stone burner with a tea light underneath is the classic choice. Electric burners are a brilliant option if you have little ones or pets, as there's no open flame involved.
How Much Wax Should I Use?
Less is more! Start with one or two cubes from a snap bar, or a small piece broken from a clamshell or slab. You can always add more, but overfilling the dish can actually reduce the scent throw. Some of our smaller wax shapes are perfectly sized for a single melt session.
How Long Will the Scent Last?
A good quality wax melt can fragrance your room for anywhere between 8 and 20 hours, depending on the scent load and your burner. You'll know it's time to change the wax when the scent fades — the wax itself won't evaporate, it just loses its fragrance over time.
Changing Your Wax
When the scent has gone, simply pop your burner on for a minute or two to soften the wax, then use a cotton wool ball to soak it up, or let it cool and pop it out whole. Never pour liquid wax down the sink — wrap it in paper and pop it in the bin.
